Mk2 Front Subframe

Do i need to fit the mk2 column as well or can the mk1 column be adjusted to fit the mk2 steering rack?

Whats going on here, are you fitting the mk2 golf subframe/suspension/steering  to a mk1.

yes but i think ive seen the solution maybe a mk3 universal joint ( fits between the column and rack )so i can keep the mk1 column but unless there is a better way im all ears

mk3 uj is basically same as mk2, but it is split in the middle. note there are 2 rack spline sizes on the mk3 though so it may not fit the mk2 rack, but you can fit a mk3 rack after swappign mk2 track tods (matched to the rack, so pas or manual same as rack)

im not sure if the column end is same on mk2/3 as mk1, if it is the mk3 uj will probably help as its already split so you can adjust length. if not it will probably still help alot as you can cut mk1 uj and adapt it so it bolts to bottom half of mk3 maybe?
