MK1 16V Heat Shield Idea
Bit bored, thought i'd stick this up - my idea for a heat shield when using a conversion manifold on a 16v mk1. this will stop your steering gaiter igniting and ruining your hard work!

Mine is a Supersprint 4-2-1 that I bought second hand. I fitted this shield while i had the engine out, much easier! But if you wanted you could fit it with engine & manifold fitted.
You will need : -
1. Aluminium sheet. B&Q about £5 a sheet - i used 500x250x0.5 mm. nice and easy to bend and cut.
2. Tin snips.
3. Drill
4. 40xM8 bolt with two washers
5. Sticky back heat shield from ebay.
6. Paint.

Cut this out and round off any sharp edges. fold dotted lines into the profile shown. spray in your fav colour. Wait for paint to set, and stick on your cut out heat shield. Drill the holes.
The right hand hole bolts to the top drivers side steering mount stud. this is 13mm socket.

The lower is fiddly, use you r40mm bolt, and slide it through the factory hole in the wishbone arm and secure using the washers.

I'm going to use some heat wrap on the manifold aswell.
Nice easy job nothing ground breaking but hey!
