You can use a standard dizzy as long as it has a hall effect sensor.

With mega jolt, you would get rid of the dizzy and coil. You would use Ford EDIS ignition components consisting of an ECU and a "Wasted Spark" coil pack. It is actualy a really good system and can be stored anywhere in the bay as long as your ignition leads will reach the plugs!

You need a toothed wheel on your crank shaft and an appropriately mounted sensor. I have seen these advertised on Ebay for between ?10 and ?20. I have also seen complete EDIS Systems inc. the sensor for ?35, specifically aimed at people wanting to use MegaJolt/MegaSquirt.

you can either use a throttle position sensor (TPS) or a Manifold absolute Pressure (MAF) sensor for the MegaJolt ECU to determine how much the throttle is open. You can specify which type you want to go for when you order it, if you get it from Brent in the States…

The whole point of it is so that you can gain 100% control over your ignition advance curve as the engine progresses through the rev range, with any given "load".
When using a carburettored engine, this can ensure that you are gaining maximum power, with no flat spots, from go right up to the rev limiter. Normally, mechanical devices would have a compromise and have some flat spot somewhere throughout the range. EFI cars would have this sort of thing (along with the fuel injection control) diluted down a bit for economy, until you chip them.

All in you can do it for around ?200 I wreckon and it is the way I am going to go with my valver on carbs eventually!

thanks for the info i've now decided i'm gonna get it up and runnin with 16v dizzy and ecu for the time being, then go for megajolt as you say its a better option if your gunna spend money on a decent engine with 45 dells then its worth gettin a good clean power curve from it
cheers

Same as me…
Going to get it going with STD dizzy. Once happy the engine is OK, I'll spend the money on the MegaJolt.
