less is more, mk1 upgrades

if you are undertaking an engine swop or just want to empty your engine bay, don,t spend money on shiny fan cowlings etc, only to us a 20 year old fan ! bin both. Pacet make slim line fans that do not need a cowling, direct wire in ,are modern and way more reliable. They can be mounted in front of the fan aswell. Then get a new rad. from G&S etc. for an early Sirroco, they are top fill and do not need a header, so you can ditch the header and pipes, once agin its a new rad so more effective than one that is second hand or 20 years old, plus it looks mint. Fan about ?85, rad about ?45 or so. Now someone is thinking that VW developed aheader for a reason etc…, well if you got your head in your engine bay most of the time like most MK1 owners you will certainly check water levels ! Sinny cowlings are about ?50 and most folk buy a new header and they cost over ?25, and you still have an old fan. Also while your at it get a new low temp. sender from G&S which will bring your silent new fan on earlier.

If you're going to make your cooling less adequate then I'd suggest a more modern fan too

Sorry that should read Pacet fans. tel 01628526754. just found my original invoice. I went for the 11" Club Fan and quick mount kit. Its funny i talk to a lot of MK1 owners and alot of them ignore most of there warning systems as they do not work due to poor wiring and faulty sensors etc.!! You do not use any of the wiring except that which powers the fan. You can see pics on Demon Vw engine pics page on 8v carbs, Audi RS blue MK1 before and after shots!. and iw ill post some up of my current car when its finished. I wonder if owners of older cars add water level senders to there rads ?

how easy is it ti wire in the new fan ie slim line as i have a two stage fan and have been told to splice the two wires for the high low speeds together then to the live fan wire then its just the ground to ground wire left ! is this correct  ??
