heaters again???

My car heater has been totally removed, vents, ducting, matrix, the lot, for smoothing and have a nice clean bay.

Now its getting frosty i need heat!!
I tried one of those ceramic heaters that plug into the cigarette lighter but it is POOP!!!

I have found this on ebay. What do you guys think??

How hard would it be to fit? will i need to plumb itin to the cooling system?
If so where? What other components will i need?

I know i will need the ducting and connections but what about for tapping into the cooling system.

Thanks in advance for your help.

looks like you will have to cut holes in the bulkhead to pipe it up how about running a bmw e30 cabriolet rear dimister they more or less connect to the original part of the dash.

Thanks paul,i think you have told me about this before, but me being me decided to ignore your advice and do it on the cheap and now i look like a rite kipper!!!!!

Ok so this is an electrical blower? How powerrful?
How much do they cost? I have looked on ebay but no joy. :dontknow:

I am looking for some heat aswell as a demister so will i need some ducting and vents?
I have a S1 dash and there is not a lot of room.
Is it defo an e30 and not an e36?????

Thanks again for your help, i will not ignore it again :D

them blowers are heated aswell :) they are quite hard to get hold of but i'm told they are pretty warm and blow quite strong

i want a plain bay but also want heaters, if i remove my blower so i can safely cut out scuttle could i use electric ones????

just been looking at 12volt heaters on ebay, would 2 of these under the dash be sufficient if plumbed into the original pipes?? so that heat can be directed into cabin or at screen?? this would also do away with water pipes going into bulkhead.

Jon, Don`t waste your cash on those after market heaters they are rubbish, not powerful enough in my opinion and they are quite bulky for their size. I already made the same mistake.

I am going to put in a heated front screen to solve the demister problem and i have purchased the bmw rear demister to use as a heater. Its an electric heater/blower. Cost ?20…..

Went to start the install of the heater when i found the car would`nt start so have been focused on getting it going again, i think it is the starter.

I will update when i get it working but prob wont be until after xmas as i am away on holiday for a while.

hello,

to make a demister work it needs to have a freah air supply??

could i use a bmw heater and run a fresh air supply across the dash from inside a wing, with a filter on the end in the wing to stop crap being sucked in???

this would do away with the intake in the scuttle. no pipes would run into bulkhead and my heater would work!!!

if this is a possibility i would be very happy!!!

The bmw demister is basicly just an electric fan with a heating element, so no need for an air intake with filters etc.

It works on the same principle as a hairdryer…….. you will just need to make up some ducting to channel the airflow.
I think you are trying to complicate things.

i dont think it will demist the screen properly as it needs a fresh air supply. otherwise the fan is just warming up and circulating the air in the car. its like just warming up the inside the windows will still mist up...i think!!??

If you circulate hot air inside your car, it's known that hot air holds more moisture than cold air hence why you turn your blowers to hot in order to demist your windows…

so does that mean a fresh air supply is not required???

wuld just an electric heater work??

I guess you meant

http://www.heatedwindscreen.com/

for heated screens, does anyone have any experience of them on the Golf, are they worth the outlay, do they come with any suggestion for rigging up the power supply/control etc, I had heated screen and seats on an M5 but out here in Dubai I didn't use them very often!!
