Finally Time To Fit That Carb...
Hope all is well, especially with it being friday…
I have finally treated myself to a DMTL 32/34 Weber Carb for my 91 Clipper. Its about time as my pesky piersburg has become more moody that any girl I've ever known
I have bought it second hand one off evil bay and at the same time have bought a service kit from a Weber dealer to get it up and running…
I'm going to get my mate to install it etc, but I was just hoping that any of you guys could throw in some tips and tricks of getting it jetted right etc…as I aint got a scooby doo :dontknow:
Cheers In Advance….
Davey
**Looking forward to a smooth start in the morning**

carb
make sure you have a clean surface to work on you dont want any foreign objects getting in amongst the carb while your servicing it
also once its fitted and you have it idling go to a mot station and see if they can adjust the emisions for you
goodluck keep us posted

i too have done exactly the same thing as you and now have a DMTL 32/34 Weber Carb, K&N bolt on filter, webber carb recon kit and a restricted one way flow T piece, DAMN E-bay!
as you can maybe guess my day job is pretty boring and scouring ebay for tuning parts for my '83 driver 1.3 is the only thing that gets me by, unfortunately for me altough i have the parts i lack a lot of the knowledge.
how did you go with jet sizes?
guy who i bought he recon kit off said i'd need the t piece for fuel return with a none return on one side?
also said may be start with F22 / F30 main jet
and a 40 punp jet?
but he may aswell have been talking Swahili
any advie anyone can offer this newbie would be greatfully received.
PS where can i find my watched topics?
PPS how can i disable e-bay on my laptop?

I work in IT so as you can imagine EVIL BAY takes up far to much of my time and combined with this site I order kit which should improve my golf but I aint got a hope in hell of knowing what I'm doing!
Your setup sounds a lot more interesting than mine, I'm just replacing the peirsburg with a straight swap…as for the jetting I'm getting a mechanic friend of mine to do all that! :dontknow:
Going to pop in at the weekend to see if he can sort it, I'll keep you up to date with my progress….
if you go into forums on the left hand side you can access all the posts you've made etc…plus thanks to drew you get an e-mail when someone updates the post!

weber carb
I also have a 91 clipper 1.8. Im just about to replace my carb for a new one too as it has caused me non stop problems ever since I purchased the car only 7 months ago. my mechanic mate has done everything possible to keep the existing peirsburg one running but it's becoming too much of a pain. Especially when the car cuts out on busy roundabouts or traffic lights!!
I've been quoted ?227 from a chap off ebay. is this too much? If so does anybody know where to get a cheaper one? Also is there anything else that I need to do or purchase with the carb as it's all new stuff to me?
Oh and could anybody tell me what type of weber carb would I need to get? I've got a 1.8

shivd1 the type of webber carb your after is a DMTL 32/34 Weber. I picked mine up for 80 bucks, then bought a service kit for 17. I saw there is a guy on evilbay selling the new ones, hence the 240 quid price tag. I felt for nearly 3 times the cost it wasn't worth it to me, but some of the guys might be in a better place to give their opinion. :dontknow:

would have been extremely useful if my car was a 1600 or 1800 but unfortunatley it is a POXY 1300.
i guess webber didn't produce a jet set up spec sheet for the 1300 as far as i know the 32/34 dmtl carb wasn't designed to fit the small block.
Somebody somewhere must have done this conversion though and made a note of the jet sizes used and so on.
i have done a search but with no such luck, plenty of info on manifolds and fitting kits just no info on jets.
in the words of the infamous beatles,
can anybody "please, please help me, help me, help meeeeee?"

Got a new adapter next day, pretty sure you wouldn't get it next day from evilebay, although I did talk to fastroadcars regarding the conversion and they were very helpful.
Car has run 10times better, it didnt relieve my initial problem as I had blocked fuel lines, so I removed the main fuel line, took the fuel cap out and blew through them, then did the same with the fuel pump to vapouriser line, so far so good and done 40+ miles with no problems, but I'm sure this is just a temporary measure and I will be cleaning the tank out properly once I have the time.
Hope this helps someone!

seriously tho, have those guys at Weber been nighted yet!? :dontknow:
Car is like new, feels like the go kart I fell in love with again, well chuffed and totally recommend anyone considering the conversion to go through with it!
Only issue was that my old air filter isn't ideal for it, my buddy who performed the work advised getting a K&N flathead to replace it…
Any body have any input or suggestions for the best kit to go for or where's best to pick one up!?
Cheers… 8)
