3A 2.0 litre block swap

Hi
Has anyone fitted a 3A 2.0 Litre Audi 80 Quattro block as I have a question relating to the distributor and the gearing. Can I use a THE 3A distributor without any mods or will I have to modify the existing DX dizzy by swapping over the shafts/electronics and if so how do you do it.  I will be using the 8v head.
Any help would be exstremely gratefully received as I am a bit less than clueless about this
Cheers

if the 3a runs some kind of digifant injection then you need the tsr adaptor ring, swap the 2.0 gear to old dizzy and drop it into block.

basically if the 2.0 dizzy has no vac advance thing on the side it is no good

Cheers mate, I also have another one for you just to confirm my thought process. I intend to fit a non UR quattro throttle body as it has larger ports and is a straight bolt on.  I take it the 3 pins on the original and the 3 pins on the audi one are the 3 pins for a potentiometer therefore if identify which pins are the; nul,  wiper and max I will be able to splice into my engine loom quite easily ?? Am I correct
cheers

what engine management do you plan to use? if its bog std mk1 kjet the switch on the old throttle body is just an idle switch, but its closed when the throttle is open if that makes sence so it sends 12v to the cold throttle enrichment valve when the throttle is open. really though it doesn't do much as its only active if you boot it when engine is cold, and you shouldn't be doing that ;)

you might be able to fit the mk1 switch to the replacement throttle body, but early gti did fine without so worst case you can not have it plugged in

Hi
I did not realise it was just an idle switch. I plan to use the original Kjet. I am not at home at the moment at work but with a lot of time on my hands so doing some research and planning. I will have to look have a good look at the audi throttle body, I bought it a few years ago and its been sitting on a shelf in the garage since then. I will check across the pins with a meter to see exactly what it is. I thought both were throttle valve potentiometers.  Thanks for the info and taking the time to reply, cheers Lee

I have pretty much just finished doing this engine to my sportline , you really need to fit a polish and ported head as well to get any proper gains, also I had my inlet manifold polished and ported to match the Audi throttle body

Hello mate,
I have a polished and ported gas flowed GTI engineering head from the re1900 conversion upgrade with a 276 deg cam with a vernier pulley  It also came with a blueprinted gas flowed inlet manifold. I am planning to lighten an balance the flywheel. I will have to do a bit of work on the inlet manifold to match the size of the 2.2 Quattro throttle body I have which has a 42mm inlet. I know the RE1900 conversion with this head and the standard throttle body made around 145 ponies an 148 ft/lb. DO you have a build thread as I would be interested to read it. When will you have yours on the road and what head have you gone for?

Hi
What did you do regardingthe oil pump? did you use the 3A pump and the suction pick up from your original DX pump? Lots of different ideas and opinions on various forums about the best way to do this.

keep the 3a oil pump, change pickup for your old one if its different. the 2.0 pumps are better than the 1.8
