webbers are about £300 iirc

weber on its own wont do much if the original 2e2 is fully functional, but if you start flowing the head and campaign it up etc then weber is beneficial as its more easily tuned. ask a rolling road guy about jetting a 2e2 and i think they will be unimpressed

I asked exactly the same question when i had my clipper and to be quite honest by the time you have started buying new bits and playing with the engine, you are better off consdiering selling and then starting with a GTI cabby from the beginning and tunnning that.

My pierberg carb went around 90K ish so i replaced it with webber carb on manual choke and the car did seem more responsive, but not a great difference in power change at the wheels i am sure.

You have such a low mileage original example i would be tempted to maybe put a mohair roof on it on it and stay stock with everything else, but then i am getting more and more into liking stock these days :-)

Thanks for the advice Rich!!!
Someone else pretty much said the same thing to me today. The reason I got the car was coz it was standard and he said just change things when they break and just keep her as she is!
I think your right il change the hood at some point but its not urgent. Also I want to get some 15" alloys so she sits better and fills the arches out ( any ideas what ones??) other than that she's staying the same!!!

depends on the look you are going for , and budget!

i went exactly along the same route, some 15's to fill the arches out

i went with Lenso BSX which are a split rim copy, you can see them in my clipper thread. Mine were fine but the clipper never saw the rain, i have heard reports from people using them daily that in the bad wether they can start to suffer from laquer peal and corrosion around the tfake bolt

Dare RS rims are nice, you can find them online, and they do wider rear so you can stager wider on rear and thiner on fronts

also you could consider usual suspects like ATS cups, ronal turbos etc

There is a wheel tha looks like the snoflake wheels tha i think look really good, they arnt cheap though , they are called Fifteen52 snow flakes, you can see on one of our members golf in this thread:

with wheels its all down to personal preference though :-)

Cheers

Rich

Cheers Rich I thought I replied but I didn't! Think il be getting some in the winter time as the missus has informed me that a holiday is more important than new wheels I guess she's right haha!!!
