1.8 20vt into cabby what clutch/flywheel?
hey everyone. am sure this question has come up before but cant find in. am putting a 20vt into a mates mk1 cabby. the original gearbox looks like its gona fit. my question is what clutch an flywheel combination is gona be the best? any help would be really appreciated.

if using the original gearbnox you want a 210mm clutch kit to match the box, plus a 210mm flywheel. both items will be 020 type, the 1.8t clutch setup is completly different. I recommend sachs clutch kits, come with everything you need and good quality.

the old engine was a 1.8 carb is this flywheel/clutch still going to be ok?

Just beware that a standard clutch will struggle to handle the power. I goosed a new LUK 16v clutch in 1500 miles. I'm sure there are uprated ones that will take the power, not sure which tho as I run an 02a box now.

We used a VR6 clutch and a lightened balanced 16v flywheel, its handling 285bhp just fine

ive done 35k miles on a standard 8v gti clutch so no issue for me and i drive it hard most of thre time

VR6 clutch is a different design, its fine as an upgrade for 02A trans but not 020.
