Looks good, what model is it, CL, GL? Reminds me of my old Gambia red 5 door…soon to be resurrected by my dad. Nice reg number too…is that ANOTHER Gambia red mk1 in the background?!

That looks nice, I really like the tape player and the steering wheel.

One thing I've heard come up a few times with the atlas whitewall inserts is that they can wear into the tyre wall after prolonged use. Might be worth keeping a regular check on them…have you noticed this Damlow?

Cool ride though mate  8) Any pics of your bros then?

What items make this car "euro look" then? i always thought the definitive euro look was minimal exterior, big slam, super wide rims and a smooth clean paint job :dontknow:
im not being rude i just dont see the euro thing going on here  , more akin to hood ride maybe?

i was thinking the same thing. in my opinion it looks more like its leaning towards the retro cali fit. which i think is a much better look as the full euro thing has been spoiled by 17yr olds in corsas!

Post

hehe dunno, the cali look can be with stingers and stuff like that but yeah i agree with the not being euro thing…the white walls kinda give it a cali feel i guess! as long as im not grouped in with the chavs then its fine!   need a new gearbox and/or engine though…anyone know where i can get a good recon engine or 5 speed gearbox from? thatll complete it for me!

my " euro look " Mk1

I think the polished finish looks great. What did you use? I like the window winder and the woman in the grass skirt. Where can I get some from? I don't know what the euro or retro look is. I just think any MK1 that has a homely looked after touch to it looks better than anything else on the road.

Hoodride kinda comes from way back……like old yank cars and stuff like that, it drifted into Aircooled buses and bugs in the UK to start with i suppose, its the concept of taking a basic car, sorting the suspension, wheels and usually dropping in a big engine or a power hike of some sort, and leave the rest exactly as it is, however that may be :dontknow: , no flash paint, no extras, no chrome, just basic motoring with a bit of grunt and handling

hey, i got the window winders of a vdub shop on ebay, they were good eggs! i think hoodride is loads of patina, even bare metal, absolutely dumped suspension to the point of sparks and quite a 'poorly car' look, but then the whole thing works fine…i think its the image of a rusty heap running fine that makes a hoodride!

oh also i used auto glym shampoo and polish! they're the bee's knees really for cleaning, although i parked under an autumn tree yesterday and the leaves have kindly left their mark all over my bonnet!  :banghead:
