Also, in Australia, we don't have yearly MOTS which means older cars normally get driven around without being totally roadworthy. We only need an MOT (called a Roadworthy Certificate) when we sell a car so you can keep the plates. Not sure how that would work if it's being shipped overseas. Why would you??????

someone told me it was about a grand to get a car shipped over from aus, just get the guy to take lots of pics and send them to youronalturbo said
Hmm yeh i was only thinking about it because of the hassle if it was gonna go really cheap. Because most people would be put off by it. It will cost loads to ship it over thats my only problem. and also not being able to view it i'd have to trust the owners description of "no rust" etc
When i think about it more i steer away. ahah

I looked in to taking my car to OZ when i go and a grand sounds about right, ?800 frieght and ?200 Tax springs to mind,
Also thought about tyring to save some cash by fing an import company in OZ rather then an export company here to try and use the strength of our pound,
Then my final though was, don't be a numb nut and wait till i get out there and find a Mk1 that hasn't put up with crappy weather all its life.
I guess that doesn't really help much, sorry, just to give you more info on the import price really,
P.S. think you pay ?800 for what you can fit in a container so if you can fit some rust free OZ parts or some blond haired ozzie chicks (or better still both) into the container your on to a winner
