Thanks. I didn’t follow that, but rather the instructions that came with the rebuild kit from missing-parts in Germany.
The difference between the two is that the latter doesn’t instruct you to remove the round fuel cell but instead shows you how to rebuild without doing so. It does state you have to very carefully ensure the screw adjustment is at exactly the same spot when reassembling it - which I did.
My post a bit further up shows the pressures I had after the rebuild which seem in tolerance. I think?

Fast idle after WUR rebuild

I have a later mk2 scirocco one which has a vacuum outlet on the side. You then connect this to the vacuum system up on the throttle body. I think some simpler/earlier versions dont have a vacuum putlet and so arent designed to be connected

Enrichs the fuel mixture at full throttle. Kinda a secondary function to its main warm up job.   I think!

So why not disable you vacuum I do not understand why you need it personally

Fast idle after WUR rebuild

Missing-parts suggested i check the AAV.
I didnt clock it yesterday but the junior timer connector to it (below and to the left of the cold start injector) was disconnected.
… I had pulled it previously to check continuity…
So ill make sure it has a good connection and try again. If its that then i shall slap my own forehead.

Probably off the topic I run 2.0 abf on kjet mk2 also kr in the cabriolet on kjet neither use aav or isv no vacuum to the wur both running fine

It's an old school mod for tuned engines (cams, gas flowed, etc) at wide open throttle the drop in vacuum lowers the control pressure allowing for more fuel to stop it leaning out.
Obviously I've done it to mine 😁.

Well stoke me a clipper (red dwarf x  cabrio joke ). Indeed i am moron of the month and yes, that unattached junior timer connector to the AAV once reconnected, seems to have solved things.
Still needs a good tune so off to the local rolling road guy in the next few weeks… thanks for the advice and lets hope she stays fixed!

If you don't connect the vacuum to the WUR you are in effect running with the full throttle enrichment permanently, of course you can set the CO to that control pressure but you may not get the correct mixture right across the rev range.

That is a very interesting point [mention]cedar [/mention] and makes sense now you say it. I think the previous owner just had it set up to go as fast as poss!

We all miss simple fix's, I once changed the complete back axle on a Frogeye because I thought the threads on a hub had gone (I was working outside in the semi dark),  
and then realised it was a left hand thread.
