MK2 Scirocco 1.8T Conversion Gearbox and linkage problems

Selecting the correct cable linkage and driveshafts.

Hi Guys,

This is my first post so please go easy on me!

I am finishing up getting all the parts required to convert my 1988 Scirocco to a BAM 1.8T.

I have everything sorted on the engine side but have hit a brick wall when it comes to the gearbox side.

Here is what I already have and know.

I have:
02J EVS box.
100mm drive shaft flanges.
All the conversion mounts.
speedo drive cable.

However my questions are as follows:
1. I have the original GTX gearbox and running gear. Will the drive shafts from the GTX work with the 100mm 02J flanges? If not what do I need and where from (donor etc)?
2. I will be converting to cable gearshift linkage, unfortunately I can't seem to find out from what donor car the cables will fit the Mk2 Scirocco in length, mk4 golf etc? (The linkage ends on the box are the ball type).

1. yes

2. try the mk4 ones to start with, if no good you can look at 6n polo TDI, lupo TDI & 1.6 GTI, caddy van TDI. newer polo 9a cables may work, not sure on the lengths

That's great! thanks very much for your reply!

I will try the mk4 cables first for length and will post back on here with which ones I used when its all bolted up.

Looks like the mk4 golf cables were the way to go.

Mounted under the vehicle, they were the perfect length.

Thanks again rubjonny!
