The outside temp sensor in my car has never worked. Is it by any chance the little thing I forgot to remove before powder coating the bumpers?

I don't see any plugs going to it or from it, and it's a good thing when mating parts that were coated, to clear areas of the coat at body connect points as in where the bracket meet the frame to electrically Bond the metals as in proper grounding as if that were the sensor, then it has to ground either via the plug, or Frame ground and a powder coat can prevent the ground so you get a floating single wired sensor that may or may not work.

Good point about the grounding; I didn't think of that.
I think the object is (or was) the temp sensor…

Thanks. I'm guessing the 400 degree powder coating was higher than it was designed to measure
Replacement is £40. Do any of the newer ones work?

I think the mk2 ones do but are a different connector so you'll need to change the plug. If you can bare with me I brought a NOS a couple of weeks back but still outside temp still doesn't work as my wiring has a break in it - I need to get bumper off and fix that. Once I've done that I'll check if my original one actually still works and if so you can have it.
Won't be able to check for a couple of weeks thou mate as I need to finish refitting the bathroom first.

That's very kind of you. I'm not in any hurry. I just noticed it when I had the bumpers off. Changing the plug is no problem. Not even sure if there is one at the mo. The cable goes though the bulkhead though.
