Possible dead gearbox :(

So 5 days into ownership and it looks like I'm going to have to buy a new gearbox … great!

It's running an O2A at the moment (so I'm told) and I'm led to believe that the box from a TDI might be better suited gearing wise to the 1.8T BAM that it has under the bonnet.

Any thoughts on the best route to go would be gratefully received as I'm on a somewhat steep learning curve at the moment.

I can't help to be honest, no expert on conversions but I'm sure someone will be along soon to point you in the right direction.  

No idea on best option as ive never done this, but another option may be normal petrol g/box but with tdi 5th. These are always being advertised on ebay.
