Purchased as a project, trying to get road worthy!

Hello. My golfmk1 has no servo fitted and as a novice I'd like some advice as to whether what has been done is correct!
Thanks in advance  image.jpeg image.jpeg

No servo fitted on my gti tin tip

If it was a GTI originally then it would of had a servo on the other side with a pull rod linkage to operate it from the right.
Early poverty spec RHD models had the master cylinder there (with no servo), so it looks like some one has converted it. They have also added a hydraulic clutch and cable change gearbox as Mk1's all used a cable clutch and rod change gearbox.

Thanks for the reply! Will this pass an m.o.t in this state? Any ideas why they would have changed the clutch change, the car has a Kr engine fitted

if the brakes work ok then it should pass an mot just need to press harder on the pedal.

But the brake lines that are going into the car might fail and there should be a grommet to stop them touching the hole in the body. also the front brake pipes need to be fixed to the body as this will fail mot

looks like both front brakes are running off 1 brake pipe to the master cylinder, should have 2 because if 1 fails you lose all front brakes, there is a port on the M/C blanked off so plumb a front brake to that.

looks like you have a later cable change gearbox fitted bit strange to have on a kr engine, are you sure its not abf. the pipe from the clutch master cylinder also needs supporting as may fail if its not clipped to the bulkhead

again I would check where the gear change cables go through into the car as looks a bit tight and no grommet, are the fuel pipes going in the hole next to the gear cables O_o ?

also the exhaust manifold is not heat wrapped which can cause the steering rack gaiter to catch on fire,

looks like someone has spent a long time trying to smooth the bay or something, shame they didn't finish it off very well,

Hello!

I was told a 2 litre bottom end and Kr head? It has Yamaha r1 carbs on so the fuel line is running elsewhere. Trying to work through the car getting stuff changed that needs it! (And learning as I go!)

I've had to extend and replace most of the loom and run it down the inner wing as a tuck but I feel this other stuff needs moving as well so it doesn't get scorched by the exhaust!

It's a half arsed job by the previous owner!

Thanks for the reply, any input is very helpful!
