Engine conversion Maybe?

Hi people

just need some help again lol, Im looking for purchase a donner MK3 Golf GTI 8V 2Ltr which has a really low mileage of 65K so cant miss out on it the car works fine and has been looked after it is not modified so its a good sign.

But just wanted to know since I am going to buy it would the engine fit into my MK1 golf engine bay I understand I may need to relocate the mounts but apart from this would is fit? I want to buy the car so I can strip what I need for my MK1 and start converting the car slowly.

Cheers guys appreciate it and Happy New Year!

Yes it will fit and makes for a nice mk1, assuming your chassis has the mounts in place for a big block then you just use the mk1 engine mounts. Would also suggest using the gearbox as it has a nice high geared 5th which makes for good cruising, may need to swap the 100mm cups for mk1 90mm items.

Do you know the engine code on the Mk3 2l block? you may need to modify the exhaust manifold as the block may be a little taller than a standard engine.
I believe you have a small block engine in your car so you will need to move the drivers side engine mount.

What's wrong with the Mk3? is it running and on the road?

Well I was thinking £250 due to the parts on it. It includes all ancillaries. I have removed it due to ABF conversion. It was running fine when removed and pulled well. No knocks/rattles. I am located in Derbyshire near J25 M1. PM if I can help you any further. I don't post much on here I just read!!!
