Mk1 Heater control cable

Mk heater control cable has broken, does anyone know if they are still available and where from please?  VW Heritage and GSF and the usual places such as eBay don't seem to have any so does anyone know where they are currently in stock please?

Also can anyone confirm that it is easy to replace them without having to take the dash out as I was just planning on cable tying it to the old one to use it to pull through.

heater valve cable 161819837 pn for a/c
heater valve cable 171819837E for non a/c

The top one is still avail. I don't know why it wouldn't work for a non-ac unit.

Feeding it through by attaching it to the old one may work, but it really isn't that flexible.

Pulling the Dash cap isn't that hard and is about 1 hours job or less.  The Issue that I see is that it has the little s shaped hooks on the cable ends that might poke through and catch on something.

Thanks for this. Even with part numbers created above I can't find anywhere in the UK that sells it only eBay in America and also I think that appears to be for left hand drive.
 Does anyone have a link or or know of anywhere in the UK which has a right-hand drive heater cable in stock please?

 I have a  few used ones if it helps
