Am having some difficulty in sorting door seals for my Golf.
The previous owner had purchased via E-bay what is described as:
VW Golf Mk1 GTi 74-83 Door seal set.
It doesn't look anything like the one that was originally fitted although that
came in a box of bits.
I attach a photo of the profile of the e-bay item and would be very grateful for any
observations
Thanks

Golf, Golf GTI, and the Golf Vertible.
I know for a fact that my 81 Golf diesel has the round profile, but that Vertibles went from the round B pillar seal to a flat one @ 84.
The Door seals on my 93 Cabriolet are a round affair at the bottom, that is basically glued to the Door frame.
Hard or tin tops are different than the Verts.

Many thanks for that.
The car is a 1980 but had been raced and I am not sure
if the doors are original.
Some old seals that came in a box of bits had small 'T' shaped white plastic bits that
went through the rubber and into small holes in the door.
Not sure where the profile that I have will fit.
Thanks again

I assume it is necessary ro cut the seal to get round the right angle corners and mitre and glue the rubber part
Thanks again for all your help

You place the seals on, and affix then with the clips on the side, as you are pulling it around you will will see it adapt to the corners and lower edge.
It has bee years since I have had a tin top and I can't relate to the positioning. I do know that on my cabby the wider bits of the door seal are on the bottom, and Glued in to the track.
