Pull the vent all the way up, and slightly out.
Insert a flat blade screwdriver behind the upper edge being careful not to break it. Push the two finger catches at the top.
Once you have it removed, if you peer in to it you can see the spring.
Using a Flat blade force the lower spring arm out of the keeper.
To remove or replace the spring you have to hold it at 90 degrees and wiggle it out of the arm
Once you have the spring loose from the keeper you can remove the 4 screws that hold the hinges and remove it.

No, I forgot that the Glove box on the dash doesn't come out…
It is heat welded to the Dash.
The spring has been know to break the lower retainer, and can fly off… I have found them in the knee-bar trough and other places… You can drill a hole in the Glove Box, and use a screw, and a nut on the other side to hold the spring in position.
