Fuel filter change

Post

Hi. Sorry to ask this but is there any things i need to know about changing my fuel filter?
Is it just a case of undoing both ends then refitting the new one? Will the fuel p#!s out everywhere?

Any tips appreciated.

It's straight forward to change but I would fit new washers.
You need to remove the nut/extension thing on the bottom of your filter if that's yours in the picture and you may find 1 washer there already, get another one the same size and the other end of the filter the washer is the same size as a sump plug. So you need 4 washers in total, 2 each end.

Yes petrol will spray out for a second under high pressure when you loosen the connections and the filter will be 1/2 full with fuel so have a cloth underneath the filter and a pot to pour in the left over petrol in the filter. Petrol is a great cleaner so good time to degrease the inner wings…

Once the filters out the way it's easier to get into the air box so I usually clean out in there as well.

When you come to put it back together you may find the pipes twist a little when you come to the final tightening so be careful they are not rubbing or twisted.

You can reuse copper washers if you are stuck. Heat them up on a hob or with a gas torch until they are glowing and then dunk them in cold water.
