Hi,
I've got 3rd party exterior door handles fitted and the passenger side one when pressed doesn't quiet release the door catch enough to allow the door to open easily. Drivers side works perfect. Does anyone know if there is any adjustment on these, pfa.
Thanks

You undo the other bit with a 15mm ring spanner and it will move in it's housing.
Draw a ring around it first.

Door handle / Door catch adjustment
Thanks for the reply. The bit that isn't releasing when the exterior handle is pressed Is shown by the red arrow. It releases correctly when the interior door lever is pulled which makes me think it's the exterior door handle causing the issue

On my Mk2 I've found the handle goes loose and doesn't connect. I sometimes have to lift and twist the handle inwards to the door to get it to open. It can be a bit of a fiddle to get the adjustment right on the screws.

Anything that will come off with a normal clean has been done and 3 in 1 applied. When in operation you can see where the latch stops as if the lever is just not moving it quite far enough

What does the striker pin on the door sill look like, as when it is maladjusted and missing the nylon collar, they can cause the latch to bind.

Agree the plastic collar always goes AWOL, wrap some insulation tape around it as a 'temporary' fix (that will prob end up a permanent fix)

Thanks both. The nylon collar is missing so I'll try some tape for now.

Can the nylon collars be replaced on there own or is it a case of getting a new striker pin the collar already fitted?

Think its new pin only, did the insulation tape work?
If you do get a replacment be aware that there are a few different lengths, when fitted very careful and gently close the door, dont slam it and dent the door …..

Thanks for your help, I'll keep that in mind when ordering. The insulation tape didnt make a difference as the latch isn't working correctly even when operated with the door open without closing it onto the striker pin. I was going to plat the striker pins anyway so may as well get new ones. Getting the old ones off is going to be a pain though as i remember i couldnt budget them when restoring the shell i few years back

Are your '3rd party' handles reproductions of the original or MK3/4/Polo pull rather than trigger handles? Put the originals back?

Reproduction of the originals as far as I'm aware. Drivers side works perfectly. Passenger side works of sorts just comes loose as you've mentioned about yours and it isn't you just have to move the handle abit and give the door a pull and it will open, it's just a pain. Cant put the original back on as its broken
