A good weekend but more help needed!

So progress is being made on the Mk1.

After 10 months of ownership, late nights and long weekends, I finally have an MOT and the car has seen the road for the first time in 13 years! ( I will get a build thread started soon!)

I now have bodywork to do over the winter but would like to enjoy the car for the last few dry months before starting on the outside!

One of the things that I have done is refresh the gear stick and linkages, the previous owner had fitted a cable shifter kit and no amount of fettling or work would make it work properly.

I managed to source a rebuild kit and original gear linkages etc which I have fitted, however I appear to only have reverse, 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. I have run out of skill and patience so wondered if anyone knows anywhere south Birmingham/North Worcestershire way that will be able to get the linkages adjusted properly and give me my missing two gears!

Thanks all,

Some photos of the car after MOT below until I get a thread started.

Is yours a 5 speed or a 4 speed tranny as the linkage kits are different.

There is a adjustment how to at www.cabby-info.com

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

It's a 5 speed, thanks have a manual and some guides but have had enough of trial and error to accept a professional needs to now finish that off!

I was having issues with my newly built gearbox with the selector linkages so inspected everything. My selector rod was missing the reverse gear lockout so when I set it up the distances were wrong from the manual versus what I was measuring against. I was only getting 1,2,3,5and reverse. I purchased new selector rod with the reverse gear lockout and set it up with the manual and now have all gears and reverse and works a treat.
