firstly welcome to the site.
are you looking to buy a mk1 and restore it to its formal glory? or are you hoping to buy one and fit a 2.0l 16v lump like the one in the advert on ebay?
my favourite online sites for finding mk1's (both modded and standard) are;
1. www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk (this site in the for slae section of the forum)
2. www.thegolf.co.k
3. www.pistonheads.com
4. www.ebay.co.uk (be careful!)
5. www.wagenwheels.co.uk
6. www.futureclassiccars.co.uk
7. www.vwmonline.co.uk
8. www.volksdragon.co.uk (not yet up and running but will be great)
Hope you find these useful and good luck.

hi mate,
thanks for the reply, i'd be interested in either a mk1 that requires restoration or one that has already been tastefully restored to its former glory.
what are peoples opinions on the mk1 link given on my 1st post??, is there anything suspect in the description that anyone can see?
how much would a good price for that car be??

thats not a bad car, it is quite modded thou' - is that what you wanted? If so then its possibly cheeper to buy it done than to do it your self. I like the BBS kit so would keep it on but be warned they can hide rust around the arches etc…Set yourself a buget and do your best to stick to it, there are still plenty of MK1s about, its just about waiting for the right one at a good price

i've always wanted a mk1, is abit of a dream of mine ops: , and now i've got a stable job, wont have a better chance to purchase one!.
i probably wont bother with that one on e-bay, as i normally like to fully research what im looking for before i buy something, so i'll be glued to the net over the next few weeks, making the most of the search button on this and other excellent forums.
thanks for the responses.

That site has been promising to be online for about 4 years! Nice bloke though.

you are kidding right?! im so excited about this website since hearing good things about it from way before christmas.
i read an article about 'VW man Bob Smith' buying his mk1 (that was recently sold actually) from Volksdragon.
It is located in Wales isnt it? Has anybody here bought a car from there as I am looking to buy a mk1 with immaculate body work and I hear that that is the place to look.
Thanks, Andrew
