Hi everyone…
ive recently had a prob with colour codes / names / halfords and my mk2! spent ages painting some big bumpers only to discover they hav given me Satin Grey Met instead or Silver Grey Met!! Not a happy bunny but they're replacing it all, just more work for me!!
My GX is Daimond Silver, which I really like.
The GL auto, I have been told is Regatta Blue but Ive never heard of this before? The code is LB5Y

Come on people… nothing looks better than a nice shiny schwartz black golf! 8)
My next choce would be Helious Blue, then atlas grey,….. not keen on green and red is common and fades like a b****!
Apparently white cars are supposed to show the "true" shape of the car according to my mate who a car designer. Golfs look good in white so this must be true
couldn't have said it better myself :y:

I think diamond silver or White are my favourite, I think White really contrasts well with the black side decals.
Although my current mk1 GTI is Black and I must say looks great "Had to say that incase she hears me typing!"
I also like the fadey Mars Red colour when absolutely mint. Unlike my new 1.1c!
Least favourite is,
Helious Blue its horrible, VW must have run out of good paint.
These are my personal opinions! So please Helious owners dont cry its not your fault.

Sounds right to me - also show up the rust better . Never been a fan of white cars. Often seem to be a polar/appliance white which looks bland and utilitarian. However, alpine white has a slight cream tint to it (has yellow and black in it) which I have grown to like - just as well.
Ultimately think schwartz black is the best colour, when I get another GTI its going to have be black  . Can't remember who or where I read this, but a car designer once said all sports cars should only ever be white, red or black .
Cheers

oh yes, white with those hints of black and red grill surround. pale colours work on cars especially silver, advertisers use it as it has a low reflective quality, so you just see the form of the car. also it is good to respray in a light colour as you can not see paint defects as with darker pigments. red is also good, it is rich in pigment and is believed to handle rust better than other colours.
