not running right, get on my nerves HELP!!
hey people, ive hadthe golfon the road now for about 3wks, i got through about 70miles to a full tank, stinks of petrol. got the mk2 hk 1300engine on it, with a piercrap 2e carb on it, the other thing is, sometimes, not all the times when your booting it foot to the floor it seams to hesitate alil bit or kangaroo real bad as if its starving it self or poss flooding it self, ive changed the fuel filter, red ex in tank and always try to have it above a quarter of a tanbk to stop all the crap sucking up into the fuel lines, it was reving real high, as if the auto chokes stuck on, had apeak at the wkend and managed to sort this and the choke cuts in when it s suposd to and cuts out when iut suposd to, any body know where i can find the adjustment screw for themixture on these, or any other help hints as its annoying me and i need a petrol tanker following me 24/7 and a massive massive wod of cash in me back pocket for fuel bills :evil:

I've got a GTI - but I've glanced at the bits on carbs - looks like you need to made friends with a swiss watchmaker.
Sounds like you've got a sticking float - but that's only based on my experience of lawnmowers with carbs.

thanks for the advise, i read up on it on the tintranet, apperntly a cunning splight tap with the end of a screwdriver encoureges the float to not stick, the otherthing i got told was a lot of crap in my tank being sucked up through the filter etc and blocking it, might try and drain and clean my tank this wkend coming

have you tried striping the carb and cleaning it out inc all the jets i have just done this on mine ad mine runs mint now. i have a peirsburg carb on mine and the mixture screw is just below my idle screwwhich is facing the pasinger side of the car. hope this helps. Phil
