mk1 golf gti cab starts then cuts out ,,,,HELP,,,,,,

hi guys  i had some running probs a few months ago, she started and reved up but a bit rough, stunk off petrol out the exhaust and all plugs black as coal, so had a play with the fuel mixture on the metering head and got her running a bit better then 1 more mess with that and she cut out and wouldnt start  :redfaced: , so asuming id broke the metering head i brought another off a running car now fitted shes still the same, she starts and ticks over for a few seconds then cuts out and wont rev up at all if i touch the trottle she just cuts out   , please help any advise would be great,,,

anybody got any ideas ?

Could be your fuel pump relay.

Mine packed in a few days ago.

It would fire up and die straight away, then it just wouldnt start.

Bought a new relay and started 1st time.
