Help! fueling problems..

if its not one thing its another, just as i get to the bottom of the ignition fault (turned out to be the switch) and got the car running, came out today and it wont start :cry:

all the plugs are dry. when you turn the key and the fuel pump primes the engine will sometimes just try to fire but wont run. i took out the plugs and syringed a little fuel into each cylinder, it fired up straight away and ran all of 2 seconds till it burnt it all

so theres no fuel coming through! the pump is noisy, fair loud buzzing sound from it, but only when you turn the key on and off.

so is it duff?

Ideally, connect a fuel pressure gauge and see what the system pressure is when its cranking. Are you sure the fuel pump is running when the car is turning over (start position on ignition switch)?

the fuel pump goes for about a 2 second run before the engine is cranked over, i cannot hear it going when the engine is turning, then when i stop cranking and turn the key back it comes on again like it does before hand.

the other day when i had it running i could hear the fuel pump going when the engine ran, but now it doesnt even run :dontknow:

You need to check if the fuel pump is running during cranking. Rig up a voltmeter if needs be, or lean over and get your head close to it while turning the key.

no it definately doesnt run when the engine is cranked, i had my hand on it too so i could tell when it was running and when it wasnt.

i pulled one of the injectors out and nothing comes out of it when the engine is being cranked over

hi there i had this problem and thought it was the fuel pump relay, i found out from the haynes where the live wire to the pump went in the fuse box and bridged the contact perminant whilst i cranked engine it fired and stayed running proving that the relay was sticking

i ordered one of those through GSF the other week when i had the ignition trouble, told them the exact spec and year of the car. i got one where all the contact pins were completely different, so obviously it didnt fit :cry:

well i took it back seeing as i sorted the problem out, plus it didnt fit anyway, so im not going back there for one!

anywhere else do them?
