Help!!! Fuel tank gauge unit :banghead:
Can somebody please help me. Ive had endless problems with a H reg Carbio clipper i bought a few weeks ago ive had nothing but problems!! :boohoo: We've sorted most of the them but now we think theres lots of old gunk in the fuel tank and need to remove the tank gauge unit to see whats going on but ive tried and it wont budge! is there a knack to it? The rest of the saga is a long story but hopefully she'll soon be back on the road :cheer:

Is it a plastic top one or a metal top one? It undoes anti clock wise.
Haynes suggests two large screwdrivers - but I use a waste disposal tool which is just right for doing them - two prongs witha handle at the top.
You are best applying force rather than hitting with a hammer. What you probably have is the rubber O ring sticking.

Thanks for the tip its a plastic one but it looks like someones already had a go at it and not suceeded! Dont suppose you know where i can get a new one from. I had the tank pumped and it was full of muck and the fuel filler neck was a mess so ive order a new one. The water pump has started leaking now lol she will live again.

Try a piece of wood wedged into one of the grooves and hammer it open (wood rather than metal to avoid any potential sparks  )
