GTI exhaust Gaskets.. code no.?

putting the standard system back on my car and have just tried to order new bits, but the exhaust gasket code isn't coming up.. help..

these are the part no.s i got through searching the forum:

Exhaust Gasket: V 028 129 589
Studs for the cylinder head to manifold: N 044 411 5 [x8]
Nuts brass for above studs: N 900 850 01  [x8]
Studs 10mm for down pipe to manifold: N 044 520 3 [x6]
Nuts for above studs for down pipe: N 102 090 05 [x6]

have they been discontinued or is the code wrong?

The exhaust gaskets came from VW i think thats the part number you have . I made that list with the help of my local VW Dealer

Studs x8 for the cylinder head to manifold: 044 411 5 ?0.57 EACH
Nuts brass x8 for above studs : 900 850 01 ?0.29 EACH
Studs x6 10mm for down pipe to manifold: 044 520 3 ?0.32 EACH
Nuts x6 for above studs for down pipe : 102 090 05 ?0.21 EACH

Down pipe stud is 10mm part number comes from VW Passat same size as MK1 but original part now discontinued uses 17mm spanner !. Head studs to manifold are 8mm nuts use 11mm spanner ! I think Rajan's part number was for a smaller engine as the studs were smaller .

It took a bit of research at my local dealer to get the above and i can assure you even the nuts are the right type and look like do it right now and never again!! you will see what i mean when you get them . Good luck with it mate ..

Oh and ps the part numbers begin with N all except the exhaust gasket that just has V .

Hope this helps . If not and i only purchased all the above last May you may have to go to GSF for the 4 gaskets .

thanks Chudd.. that post was where I got the parts numbers from.. i've phoned all the VW showrooms in Oldham/Manchester and that gasket doesn't come up.. they're saying there should be a letter at the end of the code?.. it comes up as a gasket but the letter at the end determines the specfic GTI variant  :dontknow:

will a GSF be fine to use?
