Fuel Tank - Are there baffles in a GTI tank????
i'm building a road legal trackday car out of a mk1 1.3 Driver
the engine will be a 1.3 multipoint injection engine out of a mk3 Polo
i could use the current tank by fitting an in-tank lift pump from a mk3 Polo………..
But i worried that a 1.3 has no baffles in the tank :?
so……is a GTI tank baffled & is a 1.6 GTI tank different to a 1.8 GTI tank
Ta, Paul

There's something in there. The outlet pipe runs to a section underneath the sender hole. The sender unit is different too. Mine gets to silly angles with bugger all fuel and I can hear the pump struggling, but it still keeps going. If you want true reliability have a 1 litre tank at the front feeding the pressure pump and use the Polo lift pump to keep it full.

Ta for the reply Yeha
yer, i've been thinking of fuel swirl pot off eBay (like the one in the link a the bottom)
& mounting it in the spare wheel well, along with the GT main pump & filter………that way i can keep the current tank and fit a Polo mk3 lift pump, this is how are Matt's done (he's main pump & filter under the car though)

our Matt's idea is to use a 1.6 GTI tank (we have one)…….he wants to fit that & just use the main pump & filter off a GT
..
 i can't deside what to do……..i like the swirl pot idea but i'd have to buy one
were as our Matt's idea won't cost me anything……..but i'm not sure if the GTI tank has baffles
