cheap exhaust mod?

Is it possible to remove the mid box on a mk1 standard system for a bit more bhp?
I did it on a 205 gti once and it really helped in the mid range and was wondering if the same applies to the Golf…

No reason why not - I run mine with a straight through back box and it's fine. Not sure if it adds any bhp but it sounds nice 8)

yep easily done. if you are still on the stock system it wont give you any real power, just a bit more noise.

i did run a jetex twin box, but i had the middle removed when i fitted a new manifold and it did make it sound nicer    and saved a couple of kg.
