1.1 Trys To Turn Off

Hi all right just wanted to know wether it matters if my 1.1 golf mk1's fuel filter is full to the max. Before it used to be half full, but today it seems to be full to the top and my car seems to judder and turn off. My fuel pump is quite hot also, does this matter?

I'v had new fuel lines, tank, filler neck changed few weeks ago. Was working fine till today, juddering and then turning off.  :dontknow:
