What have I started!

My Campaign was running fine until I installed a stereo, now it has problems.

Firsty, the MFA is permanently displaying all its characters. Worse however is that it now wont start.

The engine turns over but it won't fire up.

I had to call the AA to get me home, the mechanic was delighted to see the car and seemed to really enjoy himself having a good poke around.
He was unable to solve the problem though but thought that it was most likely the distributor as a spark wasn't getting to it.

The AA towed me home and after about 15 minutes the car started and ran fine before dying again. I have been unable to get it back to life at all since.

I think that it is a very unlikey coincidence that the car has problems after I had been poking around with the electrics. I am not entirely sure that my stereo wiring was correct ( dash lights came on when I turned the radio on!) despite following very helpful advice from the forum.

Can anybody give me any hints to how to figure out whether I have knackered my wiring or it is an unrelated fault? Is it possible that the car fancied spending the winter in my nice warm garage and will mend itself miracleoulsy in spring?

Seems strange that it should start and run for 15 mins if it was due to your faulty stereo wiring  :?  Maybe you have some dodgy immobiliser wired in too?

I would suggest removing the stereo and go back to your original position and try starting her again. If OK then come back to us about wiring in the stereo!
