I got mine from ATS Euromaster - ?44 for a Bosch Silver one, which is a good price for branded stuff IMO…

what type of battery is needed for a 1.8 GTi - something i've been meaning to ask for ages, sorry to hijack the thread by the way!!

44 AH is ok for mk1 golf petrol,i always go bigger say 50/55 AH so i wont get caught out,my mk2 diesel has a 80AH battery on,should have a 66AH

I used an 065 from my Mondeo TD. The standard one is an 063. No problems starting in cold weather.

I'm pretty much the same as Bert on this. I just replaced my battery last weekend and fitted a 62 amp in place of the old 45 amp.
