Ingition Probs

Hi there! Big problem. I put my key in the ignition yesterday and it just won't turn. Tried the spare, same problem!

Could it be something to do with the steering being locked? I have tried rocking the steering wheel back and forward but no joy. The steeering wheel will turn right but not left so, it is locked.

I can't drive it! Worse thing is my DC5 is in the garage and the MK1 is infront of the garage so no cars!

Silly question but have tried gently teasing both the steering wheel and key at the same time?  Mine normally releases just after you turn the steering wheel away from the lock - if that makes sense :dontknow:

Yeah, tried all that. This is really pissing me off.

Have the steering wheel off and have a look to see if the steering lock is jammed, broken or whatever... There is a lug that locks into the ignition barrel I think.

I have found owning a tool kit of various sized Hammers comes in handy for these tedious and frankly infuriating situations

The steering is now unlocked but the ignition still won't turn? Could the barrell be knackered?
