Ignition sw fine now, key/barrel broken ....

Right, well updating today as I made a bit more progress…basically found out the ignition switch tha the AA declaered knackerd is fine, and I have cleaned a few connections and things on the fusebox, and if I remove the ignition switch from the holder in the lock cylinder  (correct name?)and if I connect it directly to the connector that goes in to the dash somewhere, and use a screwdriver in the switch it starts just fine…

But when I put it all back and turn the key it doesnt work..has it just worn down or something? don't want to really have to get a whole new key set….

any help appreicated..

Disconnect the connectos on the back of the column switches and remove both of them together. There is an allen bolt underneath the column through a bracket - remove it. You will then probably need a few strikes with a rubber mallet to slide it off the column.
