Dead LCD screen? How-to fix it...

Just for info.

My MFA LCD screen was gradually succumbing to a black blob, which was making reading it increasingly difficult.  :banghead:

suggested that getting the screen in/out was relatively easy. So I bought a second-hand set of clocks off fleabay (from a MK2 I think…) and had a go and……it's not difficult at all.  :)

Follow the steps in the above guide, be careful and use decent electrical screwdrivers and you can't go too far wrong.

It was interesting to note that my 1985 cabrio seemed to need about three times as many microchips to do the same maths as the 1986 clocks I cannibalised.

The only minor flea in the ointment is that the newer clocks use a different light diffuser arrangement at the back, which bleaches out the LCD figures a little….but I'm b*******double-ewed if I'm taking the whole sorry mess out again just to change that bit……
