Acting dim

Probably acting totally clueless here, but i was fiddling with the dash about 1 hr ago as you do, and i noticed that the fog light switch has two settings, but the first one does not work.

Is this because one bulb is out on one side?  as the right bulb comes on when the switch is on full.

Or it may just be the switch design.

Does anyone know :dontknow:

Thanks

that switch controls your front spot lights first setting

First setting is for the front fog/driving lights. Even if you don't have ront fogs there will still be a switch for it (on wedgie vans there was never any front fogs fitted from factory but they all still have the three position switches.

As for the back, UK law says you need one red fog lamp on the rear offside of the vehicles. Again, on all VW's (apart from the newer ones) there is only one fog light fitted at the rear. Both light lenses will have the hole for the bulb and the bulb holders will have a slot, it's just the nearside lacks the wiring and contacts the hold onto the bulb.

Strange but it's like that on most VWs of similar age.

Yradave says relax.

I'm sure both my mk1's have twin rear fogs? Don't cabs have a single additional fog lamp?
