you dont need it for car to run, but it is nicer from cold plus it has the over-run valve to catch the revs when lifting off from high rpm. the mk1 AAV does a decent job instead of the isv controller though, it only need a live and earth to work.

i havent made a full on guide for this, paul made one its stickied, and i have wiring diagrams for the kr in my sig g2krecuce1.pdf :)

Sweet….

So what does the avv stand for???

Also is there much i need to do to the loom or is it just a plug and play??

auxiliary air valve :)

the pre90 mk2 looms plug into the mk1 blade fusebox, but its on the opposirte side of the car so lengths are all to pot. but its not hard to unwrap, tweak then tape it up

Cool… so i remove the isv and put that in place, sounds good…

Well if its just plug and play i may have a few issues to overcome.. i have no fuel pump + also a load of other stuff on the other loom, dip beam, heater blower rear screen heater… Best get my test light out

its pretty simple, in fact just about everything is too long so cut down and crimp new spades on, its just the wires for the idle switch, over-run valve etc that are too short. but if you arnt going to fit the isv control unit you dont need those things anyway. in fact, if you dont bother with the isv unit you can skip the 16v loom entirely, use a mk1 k-jet loom and just tweak the lengths so stuff reaches, fit the aav then drop the 16v ecu loom on top and you're done

I had a look last nite, my fuel pump issue was caused by someone crimping a green wire to the ing live (black) for the coil, then covering it in tape…i did wonder why i had 2 green wires… I have chopped and soldered the loom so its a lot shorter now and fitting a treat.. still have a few little probs with the heater and lights but i will get there!!

Im struggling to find a aav or a isv control unit, but if i can start without them, at least i can hear it run..

I also need a lower timing belt cover…

do you know of any washer pump that i can fit so i can run my front and rear washers from the rear bottle??

yarp, mk2 golf and newer ;)

you'll want a non-return line in the front hose plus you'll have to fiddle with your wiring a bit! need to make it like mk2 golf, run both C/9 and E/7 to the rear pump.

basically, remove the earth for the rear motor, drag the front motor wire back in and then connect that where the rear motor earth was. put a spade on it inline so you can remove the lighting loom if you need to in future without cutting anything. it may even have a spade on it already in fact
