Best Product ?
I don't want to cause staining or cause it to fade long term ?

I would have thought you'd struggle to stain a vinyl roof unless you used something really wrong on it!
When you wash the car washing the roof too should generally be enough as wouldn't stain like Mohair. If you want to restore it to make it look good again then Renovo do a good hood restoring kit to make it look like new

it's currently stored and under a cover, I was thinking if washing it when weather permits.

Meguiar's cabriolet cleaner spray is easy enough to use, spray liberally over the roof then gently scrub it allover using a reasonably hard scrubbing brush and rinse, you will be amazed at just how much dirt does come out… when dry spray with the Meguiar's convertible weather proofer. I do mine twice a year and all's good. Will cost circa £15-£20 for both.
Thanks will try it !
