Description: I will shortly taking ownership of a 1 family owned car that was parked up 12 years ago in a dry garage. Metallic blue. No structural rust. Some light stone chip surface rust. I have about 20 photos of the car from seller. I’m going to bring the car from Cornwall, back to the Midlands (Daventry).

I would sell the car as is, as a project car. It’ll need brakes refurbished (locked up as not moved for a long time), believe engine is fine (but don’t know if sure as not run for 12 years). It’ll need recommissioning and fuel system cleaned out. Then general sorting for MOT. I’d sell as is for £7000 - bought as seen.

Alternatively, if someone wanted the car in fully working condition, I would get a garage to do the work to get it sorted and MOT’d, with new tyres etc. The car would then be available for £10,000.

I will know more about the car when I have it in my possession in a week or two’s time. I’m buying from a personal friend who parked the car up in 2006. It was running fine when parked up. I have VIN etc and copy if V5. I’m 100% sure it is a Campaign car (leather steering wheel and P slot wheels, for example).

Must be a rare opportunity to buy a genuine Campaign car, in a condition that can put it back on the road without too much cost. Drop me an email if interested and I will gladly share the pictures of the car. Many thanks for looking. Best. Gary

I have not owned a Golf GTi Mk1 for a number of years now. I had two - a red mint car (now advertised by a dealer for 24k GBP) and a white car. Loved every minute of it.

I'm trying to help out a friend of mine with this blue car. As I said above, its only had 1 family owner (two brothers, the first owned from new for two year, before selling to the other brother who has the car now). From the photos I have seen and attached, the car looks solid and in overall good condition. The car was certainly in good order and running well when it was put into the garage (where it is now). It just never got used again. I understand there is service history from main dealer up to 2002, then a little between 2002 and 2006 when it go put away.

The owner says the brakes have seized up - and didn't want to touch the car for fear of causing damage (which is unlikely). I'm told the sunroof needs some attention. By that, I think the owner means the sun roof became inoperable, but will check.

If someone wanted to buy the car as is - it located in Cornwall. I could put you in touch directly with the seller. If you had a trailer, then it might be a really cheap way to land a decent project car.

I honestly think the car won't take much to get it back on the road. Obviously release the brakes, service it, belts, fuel system flush, tyres etc - then you would have a super car as a rolling project. I don't believe there is any perforation corrosion at all. Just some surface rust on outside panels.

Please do post up comments or suggestions for this car. I'm not looking to make any money on this - just trying to help out an old friend. My email is gturner008@hotmail.co.uk.

Owner has decided to keep the car, and to get it back on the road and MOT. So it's now not for sale
