Zender star wheel expert advice needed

Just purchased some one piece zender stars that need a refurbished. I noticed that the hole for the fake bolts/pegs goes all the way through the wheel. Am I correct in thinking I can remove the bolts/pegs by tapping them out from behind???

Although they serve no purpose, I always thought they were real bolts that would need undoing.

PS - Need pics… stars are lovely!

Bit worried about trying to unscrew the bolts incase they don't scree and i shear the head off!!
