At 8.30 I left it in the care of the paint shop to sort out the stone chips to the bonnet and a couple of little chips elsewhere......... Scary time now awaiting for the results at the end of the week.

well I managed to find some update pictures of 1 tired looking leech. with his saggy roof… Soon be back on the road…hop efully.

Haha that roof is like Nora Batties stockings.

Do what r u having done to the roof ? New hood or just a nip and a tuck ? Also what’s the story with the side repeaters in the f not wings ?  
Are you going to weld up the right side or drill out the left ?

Jamie will be new dark blue roof... when get round to sorting parts out.. Will also be hole making and adding replacement loom to the wings. Will start with Amber side repeaters but may change to smoked with yellow bulbs.

Sounds like a plan, I don’t know if you’re car is as late as mine but if you need to rebuild the loom for the repeaters I bought some of these from Germany the other day https://www.automotive-connectors.com/357-972-762-2-way-black-2-8-sealed-male-connector.html?___store=english
You have to buy the pins separately but they do male and female and even have the vw logo and part number on

sapphire blue LY5V   although looks abit more silver than original paint. still looks nice again even wife said so, and she didnt know i bought car back

I actually drove mine in the rain yesterday to blow the dust and pollen off of it…  I installed a "NEST" home doorbell for my kids, and when I was leaving, it announced that a Stranger was at the door.

Today service and overhauling time!
Changing the engine mountings, servicing oil & filters and installing a new autoradio

Quick wash and polish after getting back from a long weekend finding it covered in dust from the rain.

And before that a 30 minutes run through the lanes where it got covered in horse poo.

Well there it is…my original mk1 cabby the leech is MOT 'd again. He refuses to die… And even my Mrs said he's a good looking car in need of TLC. So as with my other projects he will return home to sit on the drive waiting for uncle chortle to fit a new skin. Then it's a case of tidy up the interior again..

Seems whilst he's been away from my ownership a family of mice moved in to the rear end so I do have some repairs to finalise.  But hey if dont use them then animals think they are homes.

I actually took my car to a car wash and washed the pollen grit and grime off of it as it was the fit bath since December I think.  I may get froggy and wax the beastie, but I have soo much to do and no time to do it.

Driving it clean was a very nice drive, until the bluetooth rang and the wife was wondering where I was…… I said I was taking a break.

I have the MOT looming and just wanted to check the lights the other day which got me thinking about the rear fog light I was left with after removing my late big bumper cabriolet body kit.
So after a quick search on eBay and a few days waiting I have successfully converted one of my reverse lights to a fog light using a very bright red led bulb so now I can remove the offending  VW after thought from the lower back panel.

Today I took this picture after moving the off the drive to get the lads bike out the garage. Today I hope I get to drive it a little further.

Wife will be home in about 2 hours and then i can be clear of the jobs I should of done yesterday while she was away and play with my own toys.

Bitter sweet today, fitted arches and wheels so as to look half respectable for local Dublogic show on the 27th but have now developed electrical problems and it won’t start anymore from indicators stopped working now they work again but reverse light has stopped. DOH !!
So I will be searching the internet for a wiring diagram that probably doesn’t exist for my model and probably ordering some parts that won’t fix the problem.
Still I’m quite happy with the way things are looking lol
