What did you do to your MK1 today?

I didn't actually do this today, i did it Monday. I fitted a radio cassette from a mk2 cavalier, which suits the dash far better than the Sony radio cassette that came with the car. I has been in my garage for about 18 years and only survived two house moves because I was itching to get a mk1 Astra gte!  

Beautiful choice, really suits the dash! Better fit than my Blaupunkt Bristol CC21..

Thanks, the Philips deck still works well, I had to strip down the cassette deck and refurb it. The blaupunkt cc21 is not a bad unit. At least it's in keeping with the golf dash.

Just ordered a new Header Seal for my cabby - £117 including shipping… will be going on a week Monday (20th) with the new windscreen rubber & chrome…  sad face because of the £ side of it… 

Fitted a new sunroof seal. sunroof needs a tweak but it's not far off. My thumbs are paying for it now though!

Picked up my car, no more rotted c pillar and look my roof fits! 
I also fixed my tonneau cover! 
Woohoo!


Now to give myself a manicure and have a beer

Changed all bad tyres.
Then doh.!!!!
The replacement alloy that looked same in fact had bigger bore and studs maligned.

So much and nearly rolling alas seller of borbet has accepted a refund and I am bang stuck with 75% wheel.
So if any one knows of 6 spoke borbet in silver I am ready to buy…

Having a few seals changed to sort out a couple of oil leaks. Crank shaft, intermediate seal and the Distributor seals are being replaced. The water pump is being renewed as the bearings are noisy and then the ignition timing is all being re set as the car is running very rich and costing me a fortune in petrol.

Replaced headlights yesterday.
Grill cleaned and noticed a bit of damage to offside  (booo).
Painted battery clamp up.
Took seat Base out dismantled it from cushion washed cloth carefully (almost dry tonight)
And wait for foam to dry.
Nice green west German colour.
Assembling once new upholstery wire arrives with triangle fixing clips.
The internal wire was very brittle and took a few snips to extract all bits that were rusty.
Found my members pack too (-:
And settled for a small French shandy.
Happy days.

Fitted some new door strip trim clips so I don't have to dismember my car before travelling over 40mph anymore!

Picked my car up from the garage today (missed it not being at my house) had a new Header Seal, Windscreen Rubber & Chrome fitted! Looking good, pleased with it but had some issues with the chrome fitment - pretty much had to go to the windscreen people as they didn't do it at the garage! not happy - basically the dude had no patience so me & another guy fitted it!! Got it home & fitted the rad cover.. cleaned the rad clips same time, armor all-ed the bay & underneath the bonnet, cleaned the rubbers & plastics with AutoGlym Rubber & Vinyl care.. looking sweet, 29 years young   

Looks lovely when all cleaned up! Engine cleaning is my Achilles heel really. Here's mine at the minute but lots of work to do compared to yours!

What cleaning stuff did you use bud

Just 'gunk' spray to begin with and some good 'ol WD40. Really need to do some areas again under front slam panel and in the battery tray area. Some strut top covers, rad card, expansion tank, and strategic painting still needed but that's for another couple of days!

Anyone Know the Seller of the Stickers to refresh the Tail Emblems into a New Optik?
