What did you do to your MK1 today?

I painted my opening 1/4 window frames, as the chrome platers have basically destroyed about £350 worth of rare windows and I am trying to fix the mess…..

I fitted a expansion tank hung my exhaust and tried to fire it up but had no joy

Yesterday I fitted the sill trim. That's the last piece now.

Went for a run out and noted the speedo not working. Also the washer pump.

Other final jobs include refitting the sun visors and rear wiew mirror in the new headliner.

Removed wiper arms and rad brackets to be sent to get chromed.
 Fitted new VDO Gauges replaced oil and filter.
Then took her to the body shop for the scuttle panel and rear quater to be done. Ended up walking away agreeing to have both wings done, bonnet,tailgate front scuttle, scuttle, and rear quater😰 
And that's mate for ya lol

Opened door..felt seats for dampness…yes damp…New roof please..  tax next then mot. Still turns over ok. Caster the green.

Engine swapped. Dx  for dx…now not firing…soaking injectors for change for old ones that was working… clutch changed timing belt changed…

My daily fluffed its MoT so Golf is now being used as my sole means of transport..

Replaced both rear wheel bearings (o/s rumbling), sorted interior light, dash lights, twisted seatbelts, winter idle, rocker gasket, etc.

Oh, and took my bike home from workshop - so mild recently that hood down is still a pleasure..!!

I got a couple of jobs sorted on the mk1 yesterday.

I replaced the heater control mechanism.  No more floppy heater controls!  While I had the dash apart, I also upgraded the bulb for the heater controls to a LED.  Also put in an aerial splitter for my stereo so I can listen to DAB using my standard aerial.  Listened to Chris Moyles for the first time in a few years on the way to work this morning.  Happy Days!

Put roof frame on

Today I have replaced the seals on the top of my webers and finally managed to get it STARTED! Only been ten years! 

Fitted the winter wheels,  greased  brake lines,  and a quick  top up coat of underseal 

Took out old Starter Motor, Installed replacement starter motor.  Over tightened nut that holds the battery cable and broke the solenoid.  Removed the replacement starter motor and refitted the old one….

Started the caster on the drive let him warm up for 20 mins. Turned off again..

Fitted steering colum to rack boot. Then looked at it for 12 minutes...

Fitted new brake shose and handbrake cable 

Fitted new fuel filter,  track rod and alternator belt. Wire brushed and cleaned up intake manifold. Also had a chat with it ( yes I know sad but I talk to all my cars LMAO, at least they don't argue back)

Maybe not strictly what I did..But snowy got returned to yesterday. Hopefully he's a runner with new/old heart…

Fitted ramair filter for Weber carb. Had to play around with the baseplate to have it horizontal as oppose vertical fitted or it would rub against the bulkhead
 

Adjusted fuel mix as it was running rich, spot on now. Not taken her for a run out yet so hopefully can tomorrow and see if I've messed up!
