What did you do to your MK1 today?

Cleaned Sportline, in Spain, did a pre ITV check, the rubbers on the windscreen wiper came off. Got 2 new Bosh ones for 10e! Replaced 'angle eye' spots for the original spots for the ITV on advice from another Mk1 owner, have done 560 kilometres since last ITV, they hardly looked at the car!  Went for a drive yesterday hood down 31 degrees, hot head! Way too hot to do other works, will have to wait till autumn. Happy Summer motoring to all

Looks really nice.  Got my sill clips from here when I took my trim off to clean behind it and get some waxoyl in the holes.

Got bored today thought I had run out of bits to clean, but noticed that the headrest posts were really tarnished - out with wire wool and Dremel.  Wife now thinks I need counselling - caught me in shed mid act.

I think she's right Rich!

Surely this should be a cause for a "What's the most embarrasing (but safe for work) thing you've been caught doing in your shed…?" topic?

Spent the day drying out the caddy after the flash floods we had Friday night, thunder lightning and for a couple of hours the heaviest rain I've seen for a long time, our street turned into a river, thought the poor caddy was gonna float away at one point , think the scuttle was just overwhelmed so soggy underlay all round, least it's rubber floor matting and not carpet though so not too much of an issue

Looked at it in the car port feeling sorry for itself and thought I must give the old girl a good clean during the week.

New (to me) "shoes"

When I purchased my Golf the previous owner asked me to keep in touch with the restoration. Well yesterday met up with him to show the progress to date. He was impressed which was nice.

He runs a high end car valeting business.

Long story short he presented me with a bottle of what only can be described as a concoction with a consistency similar to that of a runny thousand island salad dressing.  This he said it is a silicone based product and would repel dirt and provide a smooth finish to the paint work. He proceeded to do the front wings and bonnet all I can say is wow what a difference it made. The paintwork has a silky feel to the touch.

Now will need to to the whole car before the Glamis show this weekend.

Driving back through Dundee last night the rain was off biblical proportions the car this morning is has dirty streaks on the parts not treated last night.
