Fitted new Genuine Sun roof seal, then it started to rain again so will hopefully adjust it tomorrow or when the rain stops.

Still trying to find where the water is coming into the rear passenger side of the boot.

Also had same problem of water getting into boot. Was the drain tubes from the sunroof being short and letting the water drip down the inside of the rear quarter panel.

See this post, maybe the same problem for your car.

i had previously checked the tubes and all seemed ok, i want to replace the rear hatch seal and rear tail light seal as the water seems to end up near the lights.

Changed oil and filters in both GTI and Cabrio. Replaced broken exhaust rubber on GTI and then used it to cart a load of fire wood to my mothers. Proper working vehicle !

Not quite 23 degrees Spain  but clear and dry and yesterdays 24hr downpour washed most of salt off road. Good 150 mile New Year blast.

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

hi Andy, did you buy the flexi brake pipes or buy them and just fit them yourself, i need new flexi pipe and lines for my rear disc conversion.

Sorry for late reply bud. Bought it all off fleabay. ((5 of the stuff that was on there needed angle-grinding off! So I made up some replacement hard lines as I have the kit (cheap off ebay if you wanna go!), new flexis over the axle beam, hard lines to the mk4 rear caliper and new flexis to link these up.

Up front my brake upgrade uses Vectra front calipers, and some have used the VX flexis, but I found them too long and would foul the suspension. After a bit of research i found that Seat Arosa (so still VAG Group) ones were the correct length and had the correct end fittings.
Beam flexis were Mk1/T25 and rear flexis were from Passat.

All from ebay and reasonable cost, details below:
FRONT - Seat Arosa £15 pair, item no 131033460464.
MID - T25, tenner a pair, item no 221224204192.
REAR - Passat, £12.22 a pair, item no 131032789618.
You may also want new spring clips, my old ones were knackered, £2.85 for 4 from BandB, item  no 370966344847.

The only additional thing you might want to do is secure the hard line to the rear beam near where the rear flexi joins (it'll make sense once it's all done), some use zip ties around the beam, i got hold of some 5mm rubber lined p clips and tapped a hold into the beam to hold it securely whilst looking a little less bodged.

Best of luck with conversion, mines now 80% there now, I'm just refurbing the suspension.

Cheers

Andy

Finally, finally found some replacement electric window switches at a price that wasn't affected by 'scene-tax', so I now have working front windows.

Also my new top ally strut brace arrived, just waiting for my Wiechers alloy lower one to come. Automotive Viagra…

Woo-hoo!

Had a very busy day today, albeit with it's usual share of Mk1 problems!

Replaced old air filter with new Bosch one. Replaced handbrake lever as my old one was damaged by previous owner(s) - Got this for a fantastic price of another user on here… Thank you scrag

& Then finally, after having to take the drill to the old completely rotten and damaged screw, fitted my new Chrome mirrors courtesy of CrazyQuiffs.

First tentative step into the dark arts of Mk 1's - took the front grille off as one driving lamp sticks out of the aperture, but the other is recessed right back.

Discovered they appear to be two different types of lamp - one with 'short' mounting lugs and the other with 'long' mounting lugs.   O_o
