What did you do to your MK1 today?

took out for a little trip found myself on a private motorway floored it and hit 120 before slowing down for some private camera's

Ive just fitted an original VW Gamma 3 car radio manufacturer Philips code. Part number 357 035 186 standard in the German edition of the sportlines.

decided to dig these out of the garage and make a start on the `refurb`..all the rim edges are the same as the one pictured having only slight kerb rash..so not too bad at all really.


rubbed down with 80s production paper on a block..then with 240s and added a bit of primer just to see how they`ll come out..they`ll be taken down to bare metal when I can get to use my pals blasting cabinet and then just done in std silver I think..


then I`ll be adding these…picked up for a bargain price


oh,is it possible to fit a 280mm brake upgrade under these 15" RZs ?..or am I limited to 256mm ?

Well I've finally and very reluctantly put mine away for winter yesterday!  

It's going to be in the garage until the beginning of April 2014.
No chance to work on it as the garage has no heating, no power, nothing.
That and it gets to darn cold here for that!  

Heart broken but counting down the days till we are reunited!  

I fitted my new grille badge, looks good but also hides a crack in the grille…


Mine's due to be SORN'd on 30th November, so hoping for a couple more dry days to get out!

Stuck a jump pack on it...

Bought some bbs ra's for it 

refurbed the front motor mount and bought some coolant

Fitted the rear beam back to the car and slapped on some wheels I bought a few months back!

Tyre pressures checked.

Battery boosted to full AMPs for winter time in the garage.

Antifreeze done and set at -25.

Also drove it to work and back yesterday on Trade Plates as I had the need to drive it!

Gave the interior a good clean in advance of new car mats arriving tomorrow.

Also took her for a quick wash and spent 2 hours cleaning and polishing the glass. Would have loved to polish the car itself but was just to cold.

Checked oil
Topped up coolant

Oh… And can't stop staring at it either : )

UPDATE
I've got the day off, so I popped across the road to 'Schrat'.
I think he was pleased to see me because we've got -8 right now and had some snow earlier in the week.



So it was time to break out his winter jacket and pop it on him.
It's 5 ply and will keep him snug for the next four months.



Still don't get any pleasure whatsoever in doing it but I know it's for the best!  
Can't wait till April the 1st 2014, its only:

ran out of fuel 'DOH'

washed it for the second time this week and retired the Golf to the garage for winter. Its just not that fun to drive with the roads the way they are, to greasy.
She has thrown up a few issues recently that need looking at over winter and give me a chance to change a few things round in the engine bay. Finally make her pretty again.

Dragged it out of the garage, started first time but have discovered a fuel leak and more rust than expected
