How many cabby gli owners?

With my new project I've gotten myself into I have a series 1 1980 gli, I've seen no other series 1's on the market lately are they rare? Howmanyleft says there is 12 1980 gli's registered on uk roads… Anyone on here own a gli?

Hi just brought this 1800 Gli today off ebay, not a series 1 but it's in great original condition, just got to tidy up to get back on the road.

 Looks tidy! Is it a 1.6? Apparently a much smoother engine from what I've been reading up on, have you collected it today or won the auction?

It's a 1.8 Gli, I've just taken delivery of it, won it on ebay on Sunday, it's been off the road for about 11 years parked in a garage, totally original spec. I got a folder that has the original sales bill in it and most of the history. I can't get it started at the moment but gonna have another go tomorrow. I've got a 82 tin top with a 1600 engine and that runs sweet as a nut so will be interesting to see how the 1800 compares.



 

Ahh okay cool stuff, cranks over does it? Hopefully a bit of fresh fuel and spark will soon get it going! Need to unseize mine haha!

I got her running today, turned out to be a dodgy connection on the electronic ignition module. Good luck with your project.

The interior has cleaned up nicely, will have to look out for a drivers seat or some matching cloth to repair it.

You don't see many blue interiors, they are rarer than brown ones!!

Hey yeah cool aint it! Drivers seat is a bit tatty if anyone has a spare please let me know.

Love that interior! Haven't had a chance to start on mine yet, will update when I can!
